12/6/2008
Texas A&M University at Qatar on 6 Dec. recognized nine engineering students who are degree candidates for the December term at a ceremony in the Texas A&M Engineering Building.
Dr. Mark H. Weichold, dean and CEO of Texas A&M at Qatar, presided over the ceremony. “These young men and women have completed a rigorous course of study that is designed to prepare them for careers as engineers,” Weichold said. “We can expect great things from these Aggies as they begin their careers.”
The degree candidates are:
Salman Khalid Al-Khater, mechanical engineering
Hessa Mohamed Al-Nesf, chemical engineering
Maha Ahmed Al-Sulaiti, chemical engineering
Aly Salah Anany, chemical engineering
Amine Bouras, petroleum engineering
Kim Fernandes, chemical engineering
Amira Bent Lotfi Redissi, electrical engineering
Ahmad Saleh Talfat, mechanical engineering

Weichold told the graduates they were invited to participate in the University’s formal commencement exercises on 10 May. “Your accomplishment is monumental, and we are all proud of your achievement,” Weichold said. “I hope that you will remain connected with Texas A&M — as ambassadors for the University and as mentors for future classes of Aggies.”
The group of degree candidates comprised five women and four men. Five are from Qatar and four are from Algeria, Egypt, India and Tunisia; four candidates are chemical engineers, two are electrical engineers, two are mechanical engineers and one is a petroleum engineer. Thirty-four Aggie engineers have completed degree programs at Texas A&M at Qatar since 2007. That number increases to 43 after conferral of degrees for the December term.
