March 13 - March 20, 2010 Students from College Station travel to Doha, Qatar

The Student Leadership Exchange provides an opportunity for Texas A&M students across campuses to share diverse cultures, perspectives, and experiences with one another while learning together about leadership in a global society.  It is a chance for you to become a culturally aware citizen of the world, meet new people, discover personal strengths, and add an international dimension to your resume!

Previous trips have included visits to Kyle Field, the College of Engineering, the Bonfire Memorial, and NASA Space Center in Houston. In addition, TAMUQ students will work together with students from College Station on a collaborative leadership project.

The student exchange program is important to both campuses as it is a chance for you to interact with your counterparts in College Station and for them to learn something about you.  If you go to the United States, you will be able to tour the main campus, interact with students, attend classes, participate in extracurricular activities, see famous sights, and experience the highlights of Texas and American culture. A delegation of students from College Station will also visit Qatar during their spring break, and selected students are expected to serve as hosts in welcoming these students to Qatar.

A selection committee with representatives from across the university will select approximately 15 students to participate in this program. All enrolled students who are not on academic probation (i.e. a minimum GPR of 2.0) as of the end of the fall 2009 semester are eligible to apply. In addition to completing the application, a personal interview may be required for finalists. Students will be selected on the basis of their academic performance at TAMUQ, extracurricular involvement, leadership activities and potential, as well as positive attitude and good conduct. Your personal statement and essays will also be an important component of the selection process.

Complete applications are due to Julie Chase (148B) by November 19 at 12pm at the lastes.  Incomplete or late applications will not be considered for this opportunity.

We hope that you are as excited as we are about the chance for TAMU and TAMUQ students to share traditions and experiences, and make long-lasting friendships in the spirit of Aggieland!
