Make A Difference: Education City Service Day
On October 25, students, faculty and staff from around Education City worked with Reach Out to Asia for some hands-on service to the Doha community. Projects included planting trees, taking care of animals at the shelter, reading to children at a local orphanage, and working at a local grocery store to provide support and appreciation to the people that help us every day.

Qatar LeaderShape
The LeaderShape Institute is an intensive, six-day educational experience designed to expand and enhance the leadership capacities of young adults. LeaderShape promotes values such as integrity, diversity and creativity, encouraging participants to develop "a healthy disregard for the impossible." Students will engage in discussions, workshops and practical experiences led by trained facilitators and designed to build leadership abilities. The curriculum emphasizes concepts such as "Building Community," "The Value of One, The Power of All" and "Challenging What Is and Looking To What Could Be." Throughout the week, each student works to define a personal vision for changing or contributing to the world in a positive way, developing a "Breakthrough Blueprint" that details a plan for achieving that vision.
Qatar was the host for the first international session of LeaderShape in March 2007, with nineteen students from TAMUQ participating, along with forty other students from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar, Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar, Georgetown School of Foreign Service in Qatar, Qatar University and the College of the North Atlantic. Qatar Foundation and all five branch campuses hosted the second Qatar LeaderShape in January 2008, with seventeen students from TAMUQ participating.
Visit http://www.leadershape.org/ for more information on the LeaderShape Institute. The 2009 session of LeaderShape is full; the institute will be held January 3-8 in Al-Khor.
