Texas A&M at Qatar partners with Qatar Society of Engineers

Texas A&M University at Qatar will partner with the Qatar Society of Engineers to host two short courses for local engineering industry professionals. The courses will develop participants’ leadership and management skills through training from highly experienced engineers.

“Building and Leading High Performance Teams” on 13 Nov. will offer managers the tools to create a positive, motivated and effective workplace and team. “Project Management for Engineers and Managers” on 14-15 Nov. will give those in supervisory roles the skills to more effectively plan, allocate and control available resources to best oversee a project from the planning phase to its completion.

Engineer Ahmed Jassim Al-Jolo, chairman of the Qatar Society of Engineers, said, “A university with top engineering faculty and locally-rooted research such as Texas A&M at Qatar has much to offer industry professionals, and the Qatar Society of Engineers is excited to facilitate a transfer of knowledge and expertise through co-hosting these short courses. Partnerships such as this will push the engineering field forward and propel the State of Qatar towards fulfillment of the Qatar National Vision 2030 and development of a knowledge-based society.”

Dr. Hamid R. Parsaei, associate dean for academic affairs and workshop co-instructor, said, “Through Texas A&M at Qatar’s continuing education program, course participants have the opportunity to continue their education right here in Doha rather than having to travel abroad to receive this level of instruction. In this course, we will examine building and leading high performance teams, an important characteristic of an effective leader. The workshop is intended to provide its participants with the required tools to build, develop, and maintain a highly effective team.”
