AGGIES DO NOT LIE, CHEAT, OR STEAL, OR TOLERATE THOSE WHO DO.

The Aggie Honor Code is at the core of Texas A&M traditions and ethics. Aggies take great pride in maintaining this standard, and exhorting their peers to do the same. Students, faculty and staff are expected to ‘live the code’ in everything they do.

One of the greatest moments in the life of any Aggie is the day that they receive their Aggie Ring. The Aggie Ring is worn by current and former students, and the design is the same except for the class year. The ring serves as a common link for former students, and when an Aggie sees the ring on another Aggie’s hand, a spontaneous reunion occurs. Each of the symbols on the ring represents a value that an Aggie should hold.

A gig is a pronged spear used to spear fish. The phrase "gig ’em" was first used by graduate Pinky Downs in 1930 to describe what the Aggies were going to do to the Texas Christian University Horned Frogs. The Gig ’Em symbol is made by creating a fist with your thumb extended.

Every April 21, Muster brings together more Aggies worldwide on one occasion than any other event. Muster honors all former students who have passed away in the prior year.

A final tribute is held the first Tuesday of the month when a current student has passed away the previous month.

Reveille is an American collie, and serves as the official mascot and First Lady of Texas A&M University. Students adopted the first Reveille in 1931. Reveille is the highest ranking member of the Corps of Cadets.

Aggie football fans call themselves the 12th Man, meaning they are there to support the 11 players on the field. This has expanded to describe their willingness to stand ready for service, desiring to support their fellow Aggies and their community.

During one football game each year, all Aggie fans wear maroon, to overpower the opposing team’s fans. Maroon Out t-shirts are sold at discount, with a new design every year. Since this tradition began in 1998, Texas A&M has not lost a single Maroon Out game.

This is the traditional greeting by Aggies. Aggieland has gained a reputation of being the friendliest campus in the world.

Texas A&M is one of only three schools with a full-time Corps of Cadets program leading to commissions in all branches of military service — Army, Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps. It has a tradition of providing more trained officers to the United States armed forces than any other military school.

The annual walk around campus is done to symbolize the seniors dying usefulness to the 12th Man.
