Dr. Ryan McLawhon is the assistant dean for academic services and student affairs. His offices support students through academic advising, international programs, scholarships and tuition coordination, student life, student conduct, athletics, and other student support efforts. He also oversees the Qatar Student Experience Office in College Station and Texas A&M University at Qatar's institutional effectiveness and SACSCOC accreditation efforts.
McLawhon received a B.A. degree from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas (USA) in 2003 and an Ed.D. degree from the University of North Texas in 2009.
In 2007, he worked as a distance learning coordinator for Tarrant County College, a community college in Fort Worth, Texas (USA). In 2008, he became an adjunct instructor at Tarrant Country College and was also promoted to manager of online learning in 2009. In 2010, McLawhon joined Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas (USA) as assistant director of institutional assessment before being promoted to director of the office of institutional assessment in 2013. In 2015, he joined Texas A&M University at Qatar as executive director overseeing student affairs, academic services and assessment. He is also an adjunct instructor for first-year experience where he teaches first-year students at Texas A&M University at Qatar.
McLawhon has received several awards, including an award from the Group Leadership Forum at Texas A&M University in 2011, an award from the Leadership Institute at Texas A&M University in 2013 and an award from the National Science Foundation for a Critical Thinking Assessment Test (CAT) Dissemination Project.
He has taken part in numerous professional presentations and speaking opportunities and served on multiple committees during his time at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas (USA) and Texas A&M University at Qatar.
