Dr. Joung-Dong “JD” Kim obtained his Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, New York in 2012. His research interests are Computational Fluid Dynamics and Mathematical Modeling. He joined Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas in 2012 as a Visiting Assistant Professor and is currently working as an Instructional Associate Professor of Mathematics at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Kim’s teaching concentration is Calculus for engineering and business students. He also teaches Differential Equations and PreCalculus. Dr. Kim has served since 2017 as program director for Texas A&M Mathematics’ national Science Foundation funded Personalized Precalculus Program (PPP) and also has coordinated a variety of projects, from courses and week-in-review sessions to several pilot projects for enhancing students’ learning experience.
Dr. Kim has won teaching awards, and over the years has developed a love of teaching Aggie freshmen. He is inspired by the spirit each Aggie brings to his math class and uses their energy to help influence his passion for teaching. He won the 2018 Honoring Excellence Award from Texas A&M Department of Residence Life which, nominated and selected by former students. It brought a special honor in his teaching career.
