Dr. Selma Awadallah joined Texas A&M at Qatar on 1 Jan. 2023 as Engineering Assistant Professor. She received her B.Sc. degree from the University of Khartoum in Sudan and her M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from The University of Manchester (UK). After her Ph.D., she worked as a Research Fellow at the University of Manchester.

Dr. Awadallah joined Texas A&M at Qatar from Neom Energy and Water, where she led the power system study group and renewable integration. Prior to Neom, she worked as a Senior Power System Engineer at National Grid UK from 2015 to 2021. She was shortlisted for the Female Engineer of the Year Award, National Grid, in 2019 and 2020. Awadallah has volunteered with IEEE PES in several roles and is currently a member of the IEEE PES Long Range Planning committee. Awadallah is registered as a chartered engineer with the Engineering Council, UK.

Awadallah’s research interests include the following:

  • Power transformer lifetime and reliability modeling.
  • Reliability application in transmission planning and decision-making.
  • Renewable integration into transmission networks.
