TAMUQ-Marwan-Khraisheh-portraitWelcome to the Mechanical Engineering Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar!

If you are looking for an exciting and challenging career that extends across a wide variety of industries, Mechanical Engineering is the right fit. Perhaps the most diverse of all engineering disciplines, mechanical engineers are employed in all industry sectors, including Oil and Gas, Petrochemicals, Metals Industry, Biomedical, Manufacturing, Energy and Water, Infrastructure and Construction, Robotics and Automation, and much more.

Our Mechanical Engineering Program here at TAMUQ is an extension of the J. Mike Walker ’66 Department of Mechanical Engineering at our main campus, Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas (USA) — one of the best and largest mechanical engineering departments in the United States and around the world.

We offer an ABET- accredited Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, identical to the degree offered at the main campus. The degree covers a comprehensive and diverse course work that includes hands-on learning, labs, projects, computer simulations, design studios, internships, field work, and undergraduate research. Opportunities to study abroad or conduct research at our main campus are made easy, thanks to the common curriculum between our two campuses. You may also be able to take advantage of several international experiences, including conferences, conventions, student competitions, and more. In addition, our students are provided with opportunities to experience real-world engineering by participating in summer internships with world-renowned companies. Past graduates have worked for QAPCO, Qatalum, Qatar Steel, Qatar Shell, Alfardan Automobiles-BMW, Schlumberger, Dolphin Energy and GE Aviation, among others.

There are also a wide range of opportunities you can take advantage of on our own campus. Engineering enrichment courses and workshops are offered by the Center for Teaching and Learning to enhance the value of your degree. If you’re looking to develop your leadership and organizational skills, or network with your fellow students, you can join one of our many student organizations, including the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society of Automotive Engineers International, and the honor societies Tau Beta Pi or Pi Tau Sigma.

Our world-class faculty and state-of-the-art facilities and laboratories—combined with small class sizes and the abundant unique opportunities afforded our student body—will equip you with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in the workforce. And the job outlook is great: Our graduates are in high demand. Our Mechanical Engineering graduates are well-recognized and highly recruited by companies such as Qatar Petroleum, GE Aviation, Ashgal, Qatar Shell, Kahramaa, Baker Hughes, Al Jaber Engineering, Schlumberger, Siemens, and more. If you are thinking of pursuing graduate studies, some of our graduates are studying at distinguished institutions around the world, including MIT, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Texas A&M, and the University of Michigan.
