Texas A&M at Qatar made admissions offers this week to applicants from among the largest pool of applications since the Qatar campus opened in 2003, officials said.

For the incoming class of 2015, the admissions office received a record high number of 1,800 total applications. "Admission to Texas A&M at Qatar has become very competitive, with only 15 percent of applying students accepted to the 2011 fall semester," said Maha Ayyash, director of admissions. The accepted students come from 30 countries, and they represent the best and the brightest among the applicant group, Ayyash said. Mean SAT, ACT, TOEFL, IELTS and high school average scores have each increased. The Office of Admissions, the Student Body Government, and the Student Engineering Council will host a reception on Saturday, 23 April, honoring the admitted students.
