Texas A&M thanks Qatar Foundation

Texas A&M University at Qatar hosted a delegation of top Qatar Foundation officials at a dinner and ceremony at the Torch Hotel. During the ceremony, Texas A&M at Qatar thanked Qatar Foundation for its continued support of the University’s efforts to be the premier provider of engineering education in the region, a valuable contributor to knowledge internationally and a valued resource to the State of Qatar.

His Excellency Dr. Mohammed bin Saleh Al-Sada, minister of energy and industry, addressed top officials from Texas A&M at Qatar and Qatar Foundation at the event, saying, "Together, you are educating engineering leaders who contribute to the country’s economic development. You are conducting meaningful research and finding solutions for practical problems faced by our industries. You are engaging the community to build timeless relationships for the betterment of this country.

"In Qatar’s pursuit of a knowledge-based economy, the contributions of Qatar Foundation and Texas A&M are invaluable. I salute Texas A&M University for its extraordinary work, and I applaud Qatar Foundation for all the support it provides to the University and to the State of Qatar."

Dr. Mark H. Weichold, dean and CEO of Texas A&M at Qatar, said, "The efforts of Texas A&M at Qatar and Qatar Foundation are collaborative, cooperative and mutually beneficial. Thanks to Qatar Foundation, the University has enjoyed phenomenal success at its Qatar campus.


"This year, the University adopted a new slogan: ‘It’s time to Engineer a World of Difference.’ These words allude to both the practical applications of engineering expertise in improving the lives of peoples – and to the intangible value of the shared understanding and cultural exchange we cultivate in the richly diverse learning environment present at Education City. We are proud to be a part of Qatar Foundation’s noble pursuit to unlock human potential."

Dr. Karan Watson, provost and executive vice president for academic affairs at Texas A&M University, said, "Qatar Foundation provides a robust, reliable framework in which we can excel at all three pillars of the University’s mission – teaching, research and service. Texas A&M University is more proud than ever to be part of Education City. We applaud the multifaceted work of Qatar Foundation in supporting and improving Qatar and the rest of the world, and we thank you for your support of our engagement with you in these efforts."

The event was attended by senior officials from Texas A&M at Qatar, Texas A&M University and Qatar Foundation.
