Former student hosts workshop at local girls school
Published Jun 22, 2017Maryam Al-Bishri '10, a reservoir engineer at Qatar Petroleum, hosted an oil and gas workshop at Rufaidah Preparatory School for Girls. She showed seventh graders the process of producing oil and gas, from exploration to drilling and producing, as well as refining and transportation. The students also took part in experiments that explained concepts of fluid densities, coring and rock porosity. The workshop was sponsored by the Qatar section of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and encourages female students to excel in math and science and to pursue a career in the oil and gas industry by relating school subjects with real-world applications.
