Balog selected as distinguished lecturer of IEEE society

Dr. Robert S. Balog, associate professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Program, has been selected as a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE Power Electronics Society. Balog was selected to honor his achievements in power electronics and to be an ambassador to the society. He will serve a two-year term until December 2019 during which he is expected to provide a series of invited technical seminars to PELS chapters throughout the word.

Balog is the director of the renewable energy and advanced power electronics research laboratory and co-Director of the National Science Foundation Center for Generation Photovoltaics. His centers investigate the engineering and science behind electrical energy conversion, power electronics, and photovoltaic solar energy applications. He is the recipient of 17 U.S. patents and was a principle contributor to a technology startup company prior to joining Texas A&M. He has been at the branch campus on a joint-appointment from College Station since August 2015. He enjoys and values including undergraduate students in his research projects.
