Masad receives 2017 Best Scientific Paper Award
Published Apr 18, 2018Dr. Eyad Masad, professor in the Mechanical Engineering Program, has received the 2017 Best Scientific Paper Award from the journal Road Materials and Pavement Design. The paper, "Modeling moisture-mechanical damage in asphalt mixtures using random microstructures and a continuum damage formulation," presented a computational approach to evaluate moisture damage in asphalt materials. Masad co-authored the paper with his former graduate students Dr. Daniel Castillo, Dr. Silvia Caro and Dr. Masoud Darabi who are currently affiliated with Aalto University (Finland), University of Los Andes (Colombia) and the University of Kansas (USA), respectively.
