Published Aug 29, 2018

Five incoming Texas A&M at Qatar freshmen were selected, along with 30 freshmen from Texas A&M, to travel to Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy for the Memorial Student Center Champe Fitzhugh International Honors Leadership Seminar in July. The program is a joint collaboration between the Department of Student Affairs at Texas A&M at Qatar and the Memorial Student Center at Texas A&M and serves as a personal and academic introduction to the students' next four years of college life while also engaging in intercultural activities in Italy, including Italian language lessons, art classes at a local studio and other historical and cultural activities. Students also attended sessions on professionalism, getting involved, registering for classes, working with others, etc., and also visited nearby cities Florence, Asisi, Arezzo, Cortona and Venice. The Texas A&M at Qatar freshmen also presented on the branch campus and Qatar, in general. To read more about the program, visit the student-written blog at https://champe.tamu.edu/blog/.
