Entrepreneur gives students startup advice

Published Nov 06, 2018

American entrepreneur Dr. Stafford Sheehan visited Texas A&M at Qatar earlier this week and spoke to students about his experiences starting his own company — twice. During his talk, “Translating Technologies from the Lab to Startup,” Sheehan discussed the two companies he has started, one of which was acquired by another company and another, Catalytic Innovations, that he is currently running. He talked about how to take a product from the lab to a commercial environment and shared with students what he has learned about building a scalable business during the past four years, as well as lessons he has learned from others who have been even more successful than he has. Just 29 years old, Sheehan was named one of Forbes’ magazine’s 30 Under 30 in Energy in 2016. His talk was sponsored by the Qatar chapter of the American Chemical Society and U.S. Embassy in Qatar.
