Texas A&M University at Qatar recently hosted its annual Student Leadership Summit to educate current student leaders on the meaning of leadership and integrity, as well as provide practical training on the processes of running a student club and hosting events. Leadership is one of six core values that Texas A&M instills in each of its students and graduates, and the goal of the summit is to prepare student leaders to run their organizations successfully. Former student Majid Al Ansari, Class of 2017, also spoke to the group about what he gained from his student leadership experience and how current student leaders can benefit in their future careers because of the experiences gained now. Ghaith Glaied, president of the Leadership Club, said “I felt grateful that this year’s summit was focused around giving student leaders the tools and advice that we really needed to make our organizations sustainable and successful.” This year’s program focused on identifying the attributes and skills of an effective leader. Qatari Student Association vice president Najla Badar said, “Before deciding to lead others, a leader should first focus on becoming a better version of themselves by accepting their flaws and by improving them.”
