Texas A&M at Qatar students complete project management course given by TAFAWOQ-Qatar Shell

The Center for Teaching and Learning at Texas A&M University at Qatar in collaboration with Tafawoq–Qatar Shell honored 17 students who completed the Contributing to Projects course. 

TAFAWOQ, the elite project management center of excellence, facilitated the course, which engaged soon-to-graduate students with insights into the project management industry.

The students who completed the course are: Ahmed El-Agnaf, Ameen Siddiqui, Bandar Nasser, Elizabeth Abraham, Ghida Dandan, Hamna Saeed, Husnain Manzoor, Malek Helali, Marwan El Wahsh, Mohamed Soltan, Nur-Hamza Peljto, Omnya Abdalla, Raghad Al Sulaiti, Reem Faraj, Samozai Farheen Mansoor, Shaik Afzal and Skander Helali.

The course offered the students in Qatar a glimpse into the real-life dynamics of project management. TAFAWOQ’s Senior Facilitator Sally Jabaley guided the Contributing to Projects course, which featured three weeks of virtual work and four days of classroom training, discussions and case study analysis at Texas A&M at Qatar’s building in Education City. The course concluded with a panel discussion featuring graduates of the branch campus who are now working in industry, such as Qatar Shell and Qatar Petroleum, among other companies.

Mr. Bader Al-Jaidah, TAFAWOQ director, said, "The course is normally reserved for industry professionals, but TAFAWOQ opened it to university students as part of its commitment to promoting human development during the early stages of education and professional development.”

Dr. Bilal Mansoor, director of student enrichment programs at Texas A&M at Qatar, said, “The Contributing to Projects course taught our students both basic terminology, and current practices for conceiving and delivering major capital investment projects on time. The course was the first of a kind offering for our student to help equip them with the skills and knowledge they need to enter Qatar’s workforce.” 

TAFAWOQ is a partnership between Qatar Petroleum, Qatar Shell and Hamad Bin Khalifa University that provides training for project professionals through unique programs designed to develop the competencies of professionals working in the thriving project management community in Qatar.
