Published Oct 28, 2019

Dr. Hassan Bashir and Dr. Zohreh Eslami from the Liberal Arts Program have been named editors of two journals.

Bashir, associate professor of political science, has been appointed managing editor of the Journal of International Humanitarian Action (JIHA). The journal publishes original academic and/or practice-informed contributions from scholars of international humanitarian action,  practitioners of global nonprofit management and from myriad other areas spanning the social sciences and humanities and beyond. In particular the journal seeks submissions that transcend disciplinary and sectional divisions and promote rigorous and inclusive discourse around the challenges, problems, and practices of humanitarian action. The journal is associated with the European Network on Humanitarian Action (NOHA) and is published by Springer Nature. Eslami, professor and program chair, has been appointed as co-editor and managing editor of Applied Pragmatics Journal (https://www.jbe-platform.com/content/journals/25891103). Applied Pragmatics aims to enhance research on acquisitional pragmatics and hence accepts studies which have strong implications for teaching, learning, and assessing L2 pragmatics, including L2 English and other languages. The journal seeks submission from a wide range of topics falling within the scope of the journal. The topics can be approached from various interdisciplinary perspectives like globalization, world Englishes, teacher education, critical pedagogy, and conversation analysis.
