Hillman hosts research colloquium on transnational higher education

TAMUQ-Hillman-transnational-higher-educationLiberal arts faculty member Dr. Sara Hillman hosted a Liberal Arts Research Colloquium (LARC), “A Better Way Forward for Transnational Higher Education,” with prominent applied linguistic and education scholars Dr. Peter De Costa from Michigan State University (USA) and Dr. Awad Ibrahim from the University of Ottawa (Canada) at Texas A&M at Qatar in December.

Scholars and educators from different higher education institutions across Doha discussed critical perspectives on transnational higher education, language policy and identities.

De Costa also joined liberal arts faculty members Hillman, Dr. Zohreh Eslami, Dr. Aymen Elsheikh and Dr. Dudley Reynolds from Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar for a Texas A&M at Qatar-sponsored panel at the Fourth Annual International Conference on Language Teaching at Qatar University. They discussed strategies for incorporating translingual pedagogy into English-medium instruction programs in the Gulf.
