Gharib recognized by Qatar Science & Technology Secondary School

Dr. Mohamed Gharib from the Office of Engagement was recognized by Qatar Science & Technology Secondary School for Boys (QSTSS) during the school's internal Scientific Research Competition for his contribution in developing the school laboratories and research activities.

Qatar Science & Technology Secondary School for Boys, is a governmental, specialized scientific school that adopts an integrated educational approach based on the teaching of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in an integrated manner.

In 2018, Gharib established the school STEM laboratories by developing the conceptual design, design the furniture, select the equipment, interview the lab engineers, and supervise the initial operation of the labs. Five labs have been established: Fabrication, Energy, Robotics, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality. 

Also, for 16 weeks in 2018-2019 academic year, Gharib has developed and taught the first introduction to engineering course for the school students as part of the memorandum of understanding between the Texas A&M University at Qatar and the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.

Gharib also serves as research mentor for two of the school students who are participating in the High School Research Experience Program (HSREP), funded by Qatar National Research Fund.
