Ricardo Alonso to join editorial board of SIAM journal

Dr. Ricardo Alonso, associate professor of mathematics in the Science Program at Texas A&M University at Qatar, has been chosen to serve as associate editor of the SIAM journal Multiscale Modeling and Simulation. SIAM, the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, is the major international organization for applied mathematics and publishes a line of highly recognized journals in all fields of applied mathematics. He will serve on the editorial board from 1 Jan. 2021 to 31 Dec. 2023. He joined the Texas A&M at Qatar faculty in January 2020. His work focuses on the study and use of kinetic theory in sciences. His publications cover a wide spectrum of the theory, ranging from fundamental contributions to worthy applications of new concepts. His research touches topics such as classical and quantum particles, granular materials, reactive particles, fractional scattering and diffusion, biological modeling, and wave scattering in random media. Dr. Alonso considers that theory and application must go hand to hand to maximize contributions to science.
