Texas A&M at Qatar participates in the Global Entrepreneurship Week

Texas A&M University at Qatar and Texas A&M University faculty and staff hosted a variety of workshops during the Qatar Entrepreneurship Conference (Rowad Qatar) from 15 to 19 Nov. 2020 as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week.

Rowad Qatar, an initiative of Qatar Development Bank, invited local and international experts and speakers to share their experiences in entrepreneurship and facing various challenges, starting from the early stages of the project’s start up until entering global markets. ​​ The goal of the conference is to foster entrepreneurship, economic diversity and self-sufficiency amongst youth in Qatar.

Dr. Marwan Khraisheh, chair of the Mechanical Engineering Program, and Dr. Hassan S. Bazzi, associate dean for research and advancement, participated in Rowad Qatar’s opening ceremony panel exploring industry and academia collaborations. The Mechanical Engineering Program’s Dr. Yasser Al Hamidi and Dr. Bilal Mansoor hosted workshops on technical perspectives of a product design journey, eco-auditing materials for sustainable industrial design, and technical standards that aspiring entrepreneurs should be aware of. Dr. Saurabh Biswas, executive director for commercialization and entrepreneurship at the Texas A&M Engineering Experiment Station, led a workshop discussing important aspects of creating a technology focused start-up from university innovations.
