ConocoPhillips Qatar and Texas A&M at Qatar celebrate new partnership supporting studentsPublished Jan 31, 2021
ConocoPhillips Qatar has provided a financial gift in support of student scholarships and experiential learning at Texas A&M University at Qatar, a Qatar Foundation partner university.
This offering will strengthen Texas A&M at Qatar’s Al Shaheen Scholarship Fund while enhancing student activities, including travel to professional conferences and exhibitions and other high-impact learning experiences that shape engineering leaders.
ConocoPhillips Qatar is among Texas A&M at Qatar’s all-time leading patrons, maintaining a record of generous sponsorship in support of engineering education at Texas A&M at Qatar.
Todd Creeger, president of ConocoPhillips Qatar and a Class of 1986 graduate of Texas A&M’s main campus, said, “We at ConocoPhillips recognize our responsibility to empower the next generation of engineers and support their education in meaningful ways. As we continue to maintain our proud relationship with the Aggie community, we are deeply honored to contribute to the development of future graduates in Qatar. Even in these difficult times, we hope to help ensure they continue to have access to a wealth of opportunities that advance their professional growth.”
Since its creation in 2016, the Al Shaheen Scholarship Fund has supported scholarship awards for engineering students at Texas A&M at Qatar. This scholarship fund provides an opportunity for former students and community leaders to contribute directly to the education of young people in Qatar, said Texas A&M at Qatar dean Dr. César Octavio Malavé.
“Every year, we support a number of students in the form of scholarships or travel support to fully experience world-class engineering education at Texas A&M at Qatar,” Malavé said. “ConocoPhillips Qatar has been a longtime friend and partner to our campus, especially under the leadership of Mr. Creeger, who is an Aggie and a strong supporter of our university. We are grateful to ConocoPhillips Qatar for its generosity and its vision in contributing to our mission of creating engineering leaders in Qatar.”
