Texas A&M at Qatar students win best renewable energy project award

Texas A&M University at Qatar’s Asmahan Al-Kuwari ‘21, Sara Al-Mulla ’21 and Hissa Al-Darwish ‘21 were recently awarded the Best Renewable Energy Research Project Award by KAHRAMAA.

The Electrical and Computer Engineering students’ senior design project, titled “Penetration of Large Photovoltaic System (800 MW) into Qatar’s Distribution Grid,” explored the development of a large-scale solar power plan that could supply the country with renewable power energy. The students were mentored by Dr. Haitham Abu-Rub and Dr. Shady Khalil.
