Dr. Othmane Bouhali — research professor and director of research computing at Texas A&M University at Qatar, a Qatar Foundation partner university — recently showcased his research at the Fast Timing in Medical Imaging conference held in Valencia, Spain.

At the multidisciplinary workshop, Bouhali showcased new ideas which apply quantum mechanics principles to study and improve crystals used for the detection of light emitted in medical positron emission tomography.

The 2.5-day event brought together physicians, radiologists, oncologists, immunologists, biologists as well as physicists, engineers, technologists of different disciplines, along with medical imaging industry representatives to discuss the importance of improving the timing performance of a new generation of medical imaging instrumentation.
