Dr. Krolikowski co-authors paper published in Nature Communications
Published Jul 03, 2022Dr. Wieslaw Krolikowski, Physics professor at Texas A&M at Qatar, a Qatar Foundation partner university, has recently co-authored a research paper which was published in Nature Communications.
The paper, “Thermal control of the topological edge flow in nonlinear photonic lattices” provides theoretical evidence that photonic topological systems can support robust photon transport processes even under the extreme complexity introduced by nonlinearity, an important feature for modern topological applications in photonics.

Along with Krolikowski, Pawel S. Jung, Georgios G. Pyrialakos, Fan O. Wu, Midya Parto, Mercedeh Khajavikhan, and Demetrios N. Christodoulides – all based out of the University of Florida) co-authored the paper.
Krolikowski said, “We are thrilled with the results of this research, and proud to have it published in Nature Communications.
The paper explores the nonlinear evolution dynamics in topological photonic lattices within the framework of optical thermodynamics. Their results indicate that photonic topological systems can in fact support robust photon transport processes even under the extreme complexity introduced by nonlinearity, an important feature for contemporary topological applications in photonics including signal processing, switching and novel low power all-optical steering elements that are robust to perturbations.
