ASME student chapter tours SLB
Published Oct 24, 2023The Texas A&M at Qatar student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) recently collaborated with SLB, one of the leading technology companies in the energy industry, to organize an educational field trip for the university's engineering students.
The visit to SLB's facility in Doha allowed the ASME members to gain knowledge and experience about cutting-edge technologies, equipment and operations driving the oil and gas industry. From reservoir evaluation to drilling to the digital category, attendees said the visit was an enlightening experience that sparked a keen interest in pursuing careers in the oil and gas industry.
Wellage Ushara D'Silva, a mechanical engineering senior, said, "I had the opportunity to visit SLB, where I immersed myself in the company's vision, core values, and had a firsthand look at their cutting-edge facilities. It was an incredibly valuable experience!"
Imran Parvez, a mechanical engineering junior, thanked ASME and SLB for the opportunity and said, "It was interesting to be at SLB, to directly see the facilities and equipment, and talk to the engineers who work there. We learned a lot about their pivotal role in oil production."
The Texas A&M at Qatar ASME student organization board expressed their gratitude to SLB - Qatar and specifically Texas A&M at Qatar Alumnus of the Year for 2023, Azhar Khan’13, for making this field trip a valuable experience for its members.
