Published May 11, 2025

Texas A&M University at Qatar proudly celebrates Hassan Khan ’24 as the recipient of the Arthur L. Williston Medal, one of the most prestigious honors awarded by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). He is the first graduate from Texas A&M at Qatar to receive this recognition.

The Arthur L. Williston Medal is awarded annually to engineering students or recent graduates who exemplify civic service through engineering. Khan was selected “for exceptional leadership in engineering education, for securing industry partnerships and fostering STEM outreach via collaboration, and for inspiring future engineers through research symposiums and career guidance.”

Khan was personally congratulated by ASME CEO Thomas Costabile and will receive a bronze medal and certificate to honor his impact.

Reflecting on the recognition, Khan said: "It is an honor to be recognized by such a prestigious organization, reinforcing the importance of giving back to the community that shaped my own journey. Ever since I joined the Aggie family, it was always about giving back to society, hence my deep connection with The Association of Former Students. But it was not just about giving back to my alma mater — it was also about serving the greater community of Doha, who gave me a platform to bring my ideas to life. Joining Weatherford’s NextGen program elevated that experience, allowing me to guide the next generation of engineers, both within the program and among final-year students preparing to enter the industry.”

His journey at Texas A&M at Qatar has been defined by leadership, mentorship and a deep sense of responsibility to his community — qualities that align with the very essence of the Williston Medal.
