Texas A&M at Qatar won the Hamad bin Khalifa University (HBKU) soccer tournament and finished second in the league. Marwan Badreldin was named best goalie as well as to the all-star team. Tarek Saad and Ahmed Kaikal were also named to the league-wide all-star team.

The Petroleum Engineering Program recently hosted its Junior Students Paper Contest in which about 26 students competed in two sessions chaired by Dr. Nayef Alyafei and Dr. Dominique Guérillot. Abouelkassim Becetti and Saadat Khan presented posters at the 75th annual meeting of the Midwest Political Science Association Conference in Chicago. Electrical and computer engineering junior Shaikha Al-Qahtani was recently selected by the Texas A&M University chapter of Phi Kappa Phi as its Outstanding Junior award recipient. Al-Qahtani was awarded and inducted into the prestigious honor society at a ceremony in College Station. Phi Kappa Phi is the oldest honor society in the United States.
