Dr. Ann Kenimer appointed interim dean and COO of Texas A&M at Qatar

Dr. Ann Kenimer has been appointed interim dean and chief operating officer (COO) of Texas A&M University at Qatar effective 1 Jan., announced Texas A&M University’s Provost and Executive Vice President Dr. Karan Watson.

“I have known and worked with Dr. Kenimer for a number of years and I believe she is an excellent choice to serve as interim dean and COO,” said Dr. Mark H. Weichold, who has served as dean and CEO of Texas A&M at Qatar since 2007. “Dr. Kenimer has been to our campus a number of times in the past and is familiar with our programs and operations. I believe her transition will be a smooth one and I am confident that Texas A&M at Qatar will continue to do great things under her leadership.”

Kenimer is a professor in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering and associate provost for undergraduate studies at Texas A&M’s main campus in College Station, Texas, USA.

As interim dean and COO, Kenimer will be responsible for the administration and management of Texas A&M at Qatar’s academic, research and public service programs, as well as for providing vision and direction for the campus.

Kenimer brings more than 20 years of service to Texas A&M to this role. Before her appointment as associate provost for undergraduate studies, she served as associate dean of faculties and associate dean for academic operations in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Kenimer is a registered professional engineer, and earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and a doctorate from the University of Illinois, all in agricultural engineering. In 2009, she was named an Outstanding Alumna from Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. She currently serves as vice chair of operations and a member of the executive committee for the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.
