Texas A&M at Qatar was awarded five Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP) grants in the 19th cycle of the program by Qatar National Research Fund.

These projects, which are instrumental in enriching students’ educational experiences, will involve 16 undergraduate students. The primary research mentors of the projects were Dr. Mahmood Amani (who received two awarded UREP projects); Dr. Othmane Bouhali and Maya Abi Akl; Dr. Sherzod Madrahimov and Dr. Praveen Kumar Manyam; and Dr. Hassan Bazzi and Dr. Mohammed Al-Hashimi.

The UREP projects add great value to the education and training of our students, said Bazzi, who is also assistant dean for research. Bazzi said many of the students who participated in past UREP projects have presented their work in conferences, published journal papers and gone on to win additional research awards.
