Former student wins best presentation award

Morcos Metry, Class of 2014, won the best presentation award for his paper, "High Efficiency MPPT by Model Predictive Control Considering Load Disturbances for Photovoltaic Applications Under Dynamic Weather Condition," at the Annual Conference of the Industrial Electronics Society (IECON 2015) in Yokohama, Japan, 10 Nov. Metry is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in power electronics in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Texas A&M University. Dr. Sertac Bayhan, postdoctoral research associate in the Electrical and Computer Engineering Program at Texas A&M at Qatar, also received a best presentation award at the same conference for his paper, "Model Predictive Control of Quasi-Z Source Three-Phase Four-Leg Inverter."
