Jacobs to present seminars on combustion

Published Sep 26, 2009

Dr. Tim Jacobs, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Texas A&M University, will present this week seminars on combustion.

The first seminar, "Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition Combustion: An Ultra Efficient and Clean Method to Produce Power," will take place on 1 Oct. Jacobs will provide an overview of HCCI combustion and describe the fundamental mechanisms that result in high efficiency and low emissions. The seminar is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. in lecture hall 143. The second seminar, "Internal Combustion Engines: Reliable for over 100 years, but will they be here in 40 years?,"  will take place on 4 Oct. Jacobs will provide an overview of the operation and fundamental features of internal combustion engines and what the future may hold for these specific engines in the transportation sector. This seminar is scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. in lecture hall 238. A light lunch will follow both seminars. For information contact Vicky Molina: vicky.molina@qatar.tamu.edu, +974.423.0199.
