Maersk Oil researchers to discuss fluid property variations

Published Sep 27, 2010

The Petroleum Engineering Program on Wednesday will present "Modeling Fluid Property Variations in Al Shaheen with Black Oil Correlations."

Presented by Niels Lineloff, senior research engineer at Maersk Oil, and Soren Frank, head of Maersk Oil Research and Technology Center at Qatar Science & Technology Park, the presentation will focus on data gathering and fluid property modeling with black oil correlations for the Al Shaheen field offshore Qatar. Black oil correlations are routinely used in the industry for fluid property modeling to be applied for primary and secondary (waterflood) recovery schemes. Given sufficient experimental data, it is possible to tune the correlations to make them accurately match field specific fluid property behavior. The lecture is scheduled to begin at 11:30 a.m. in lecture hall 238 and includes a light lunch. For information contact Ghada Hamed: ghada.hamed@qatar.tamu.edu.
