Nounou's paper on time-delay systems ranked most downloaded from Oxford Journals Web site

Published Sep 15, 2009

Dr. Mohamed Nounou, senior associate professor of chemical engineering, and Dr. Hazem Nounou, senior associate professor of electrical engineering, have co-authored a paper ranked first in the top five most downloaded articles from the IMA Journal of Mathematical Control and Information, published by the Oxford Journals.

The paper titled "Robust adaptive sliding-mode control for continuous time-delay systems," focuses on the development of two robust adaptive sliding-model control schemes for the control of a class of uncertain time-delay systems that use time-varying delays. The first scheme develops a sliding-mode observer-based output feedback controller. The second scheme employs a robust redesign approach to yield an adaptive-based controller against controller and sliding-mode observer gain perturbations.
