Published Feb 08, 2010

A Gulf Times editorial applauded Texas A&M at Qatar last week for its Qatar Sustainable Water and Energy Utilization Initiative (QWE).

A 1 Feb ceremony launched the University program, which the Gulf Times called "a significant step forward" for Qatar. "This is a very relevant and crucial initiative for Qatar and the region," Minister of State for Energy and Industry HE Dr Mohamed Bin Saleh Al-Sada said.

Led by Texas A&M at Qatar chemical engineering professors Dr. Patrick Linke and Dr. Ahmed Abdel-Wahab, the QWE establishes a center of scientific and technical excellence dedicated to supporting Qatar in addressing pressing water and energy issues of priority and importance. "The launch of the QWE will directly contribute to the future of Qatar," said Dr. Mark H. Weichold, dean and CEO. "The QWE is one of Texas A&M at Qatar's boldest and most important research initiatives yet." Visit http://qwe.qatar.tamu.edu to learn more.
