Rowe studies pigments used in ancient rock paintings

Dr. Marvin Rowe, professor of chemistry, on 21 July, presented the lecture "Dating Ancient Rock Paintings" at the Albuquerque Archaeological Society meeting. During the summer, Rowe also participated in two archaeological field trips. The first was to the Shumla School of Rock Art Studies at Comstock, Texas. The second was in the Guadalupe Mountains near Queen, N.M. The goal of both trips was to study and analyze pigments used in ancient rock paintings.
