Senior chemical engineering students visit Oryx GTL

Dr. Dragomir Bukur, professor of chemical engineering, and Khaled Elsaid, technical laboratory coordinator, accompanied senior chemical engineering students for a tour of the Oryx GTL plant in Ras Laffan Industrial City on 9 March.

Operated by Sasol, Oryx GTL is the largest plant of this kind in the world for natural gas conversion to hydrocarbon liquids. Dr. Ernest du Toit, technical manager of Oryx GTL, gave an overview of the process. Students were given the opportunity to visit the plant’s control room and tour the facility.
