Texas A&M University at Qatar on Sunday commemorated the arrival of the Texas A&M Society of Automotive Engineers racecar with a celebration in the link atrium of the Texas A&M Engineering Building.

Dr. Houshang Masudi, senior professor of mechanical engineering, said the car was brought to Qatar for one purpose. "The Formula SAE car was brought for the purpose of education," he said. "This car represents all areas of engineering. From fluid dynamics to differential equations, all engineering courses taken by Texas A&M at Qatar students are found in this car."

The Formula SAE car looks like a Formula One racecar. The Formula SAE car was designed and built by mechanical engineering students in College Station, Texas, during the 2007-2008 academic year. The project’s objective was to challenge students to design, construct, test, develop and compete with small open-wheel cars. Students involved in the project dealt with budgets, scheduling and staffing issues related to the construction of the car.
