Published Nov 30, 2009

Jennifer Maruska, assistant lecturer of political science, and students from her politics of global inequality course have raised more than $1,000 to promote efforts against human trafficking.

Students participating sold items made by women and children survivors of trafficking in Asia and Africa. Students Maryam Al-Aali, Asma Al-Enazi, Sara Al-Hail and Sara Bughenaim last week hosted an event at Al Bayan Educational Complex for Girls, while Abeer Abuhelaiqa and Sara AlHaddad hosted an event at Virginia Commonwealth University in Qatar to raise awareness about human trafficking. Nawal Al Kindi and Maryam Al Raisi sold items in the student lounge of the Texas A&M Engineering Building. All proceeds support the Emancipation Network and the Made by Survivors store.
