UREP projects take top honors

Qatar National Research Fund (QNRF) recently announced the five finalists for the Undergraduate Research Experience Program (UREP) for the best of the 95 awarded UREP cycle nine and ten projects. The five finalists include two Texas A&M at Qatar projects. The first project, "Investigating the Effects of Ultra High Pressures and Temperatures on the Rheological Properties of Oil-Based Drilling Mud" was completed by students Abdulaziz Al-Mohannadi, Mohammad Abu Ghazaleh, Mohammed Al-Jubouri, Abdullah Taha, Radhwan Alsaad, Mohammed Fakhroo, Mohammed Hanbal and Mustafa Al-Waily under the mentorship of Dr. Mahmoud Amani, associate professor of petroleum engineering. The second project, "An investigation into specific skills requiring enhancement in Qatari high school students to succeed in an engineering education" was completed by students Huda Al-Qahtani, Souad Aqeel, Hind Barnieh, Asma Gouba, Dawood Hjeij, Mohamed Salem and Mohamed Zourob under the mentorship of Dr. Beena Ahmed, lecturer of electrical engineering, and Dr. Ghada Salama, lecturer of chemical engineering. The students will be giving a presentation about the projects in front of a competition panel on 27 March.
