STEM Programs

We’re inviting students in grades 7-9 to design, prototype, and build engineering prototypes related to exploration. Past topics have included gliders, RC blimps, underwater robots, basic robotics, and hovercrafts. The basics of the design process will be tackled, along with learning topics such as lift, thrust, weight distribution, and 3D modeling.

Based upon the successful Aggies Invent program from our home campus, Qatar Invents is an exciting program where the participants learn the fundamentals of the engineering design process: empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test. Students in grades 9-12 will be tasked with coming up with novel solutions to serious problems, building prototypes, and successfully defending their inventions to a panel of experts.

Students in grades 7-9 will learn the basics of how to code, prototype, test, and refine their ideas for a working phone application.

Designed to demonstrate that engineering is essential in all aspects of life, grade 9-12 participants will learn how engineering is used in a variety of careers centered on the heroes of daily life. Past themes included the use of drone technology with members of Qatar’s military, and the science and engineering behind crime scene analysis with Qatar’s investigators with the General Directorate of Criminal Investigation.

A massive summer program where grade 9-12 students spend several weeks designing and building a focused engineering project. Previous programs included 3D printing, wireless electronics, and aeronautical engineering.

Our most competitive program! Top grade-12 students compete in completing an actual research project under the mentorship of Texas A&M University at Qatar professors and researchers for several weeks. Working in the university laboratories, students learn complex aspects of petroleum, chemical, mechanical, electrical and computer engineering. At the end of their program, they must present their research to a panel of academic and industry experts. Successful participants are considered our “National Vision Scholars.”

We’re looking for students in grades 9-12 who want to learn how to take your ideas and make them a reality! We’ll be introducing students to engineering design, computer aided design (CAD), and 3D printing. You’ll be instructed by engineering experts using a professional CAD software (Fusion 360) to learn the basics of 3D modeling and additive manufacturing, and take your projects home using our 3D printers.

This is a hands-on program that requires innovation and teamwork.

We’re inviting students in grades 7-12 to design and build their own robots from the famed REV Robotics line of materials. These professional grade materials are the building blocks to some of the greatest international robotics competitions including FIRST Global and FIRST Tech Challenge. Come learn mechanical and electrical engineering skills from our team of roboticists. You’ll learn how to program your robot to control sensors, motors, and servos in this intense hands-on experience.

We’re inviting students in grades 6-8 to design and build their own pinewood derby cars! An American tradition, you’ll turn a simple block of wood into an unpowered, unmanned miniature car and gravity race them down the track. While having a bunch of fun racing, you’ll also be learning and experimenting in the engineering of these cars. You’ll study topics such as potential and kinetic energy, friction, air resistance, weight distribution, and statistics. We expect you to be creative and innovative in both the engineering and design of each racer. Participants will use science and physics to engineer the fastest car in Qatar!

A collaboration with Qatar Cool, this long-form program covered the history of cooling and refrigeration from engineering design, pump physics, evaporation science, thermodynamics, energy and water conservation, and district cooling. Students worked to design their own novel solutions to a real world problem facing Qatar Cool, and presented their ideas to a panel of professional engineers.
