No, unfortunately, our program is open to students in the last two years of their BSc studies.

No, although the program calls for third or fourth year students, this is meant for four-year programs. If you are in a five-year program, then you have to be in your fourth or fifth year.

No, the summer school will benefit you more if you have already gone through some of the three-plus years of coursework. 

No. The program is only for students who are currently undergraduate college students.

Yes, you can apply if your degree is in a natural science or is closely related to the topic of the summer school (e.g. architecture, computer science). Our committee will evaluate your application and consider you based on your coursework and transcript.

While there is no specific requirement for the GPA, the summer school is highly competitive and all criteria are considered. If your GPA is low, e.g. less than 3.5 out of 4, you can still apply, but we advise you to focus on improving your GPA and academic performance. You can still apply at a later point.

Many of the lectures are offered by academic researchers but a very good percentage comes from industry partners. We aim to offer a holistic view of the topic. 

Definitely! While it doesn’t guarantee admission to a graduate program (Texas A&M or any other university), successful completion will add to your resume.

Additionally, if you are an active and engaged participant, there is a very good chance that one of the lecturers will be willing to support you with a recommendation letter.

No, there is a final presentation and a few more assessments/assignments during the program but there is no formal examination and your assignments are not graded. 

No, full attendance of the program is required. If there is any chance you may have to start late or end early, please do not apply. 

There are no explicit prerequisites, but all of your completed coursework and extracurricular activities will be considered.

For example, if you are a biology or math student with no prior experience or coursework related to the field of energy then it will be very difficult to follow the material, even if you have a vested personal interest in the field with some online seminars/training. 

No, the program extends only to students studying in Pakistan and no dual-nationals will be considered for the program.

Yes, the scholarship will cover local expenses, insurance, airfare, ground transportation, meals, and lodging.

Yes, transportation to Islamabad will be arranged for all scholars to depart for Qatar and return home at the end of the program.

Yes, you will be traveling with the other students in the program and chaperones at all times during the program. You will live on campus in Qatar and in safe hotels in Pakistan.

Yes, it is a travel requirement by the State of Qatar 

Yes, an unofficial transcript is accepted. Without some form of transcript, your application will be rejected. 

No, but it should clearly describe your academic and other accomplishments. Without some form of resume, your application will be rejected. 

No, but it should describe your interest in energy and any experiences that have shaped your desire to pursue a career in the energy sector.  

You can describe what you hope to achieve as an energy professional and why. It should not be a general description of the well-known energy challenges Pakistan faces. The personal statement is your chance to communicate your passion. 

No, you are not eligible to apply if you have previously attended a program funded by the US government.

No, you can only apply for one of the summer school tracks.

Yes, in addition to the students in the energy program, you will participate in lectures with students from other tracks and you will interact with them outside of class during your two-week stay on campus.

They are from Qatar, the region, and even Texas A&M’s main campus in the U.S.
