Dr. Khaled Elsaid

Laboratory Manager, Visiting Lecturer

Office Number: 219T
Office Phone: +974.4423.0148

Dr. Khaled Elsaid has about 15 years of combined research and academic teaching experience that he gained by working for different research and academic institutions. Before joining Texas A&M University at Qatar, in 2007, as the manager for chemical engineering laboratories, Dr. Elsaid has worked as a lecturer in the chemical engineering department at Minia University, Egypt, while before working for Minia University he worked as research associate in ore treatment lab, at the Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute CMRDI, Egypt.

Dr. Elsaid's area of research is focused on water and wastewater treatment in general, and water desalination in particular. This has been expanding to energy aspects of water-energy nexus, leading to extending the work focus on energy aspect as well, with focus on renewable energy applications. The current focus is on  systems that enable dual water production/treatment with energy generation, which is well demonstrated by duel systems that utilizes wastewater, with good example of urea fuel cells UFC, which are considered as direct application for the waste-to-energy concept.

Dr. Elsaid has a vast experience in the field of analytical techniques, with main focus on water, wastewater, and soil/sediment analysis for different constituents and contaminants, as well as different material characterization techniques.

Current research of Dr. Elsaid:

· Hybrid Water Desalination Systems
· Physical and Chemical Water Treatment Processes
· Urea Fuel Cells
· Waste-to-Energy
