Mr. Khalifa Abulla Al-Sowidi joined the Chemical Engineering Program as Professor of the Practice in 2020. Mr. Al-Sowidi earned a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering in 1984 from Arizona State University and by 1997 he was the Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Fertilizer Company, a position he held until 2015. In his role as CEO, he managed the construction and commissioning of large-scale ammonia and urea plants with a combined project value of more than $3 billion. He was a member of the Board of Qatar Petroleum, Industry of Qatar and Qatar Manufacturing Company. He also served as the head of the Technical Committee of International Fertilizer Association (IFA) and was Chairman of GPCA Fertilizer for 12 years, in addition to many other international associations and boards.
