Texas A&M University at Qatar students participate in Shell Eco Marathon-SEM in Singapore

A group of eight students (seven mechanical and one electrical engineering students) from Texas A&M University at Qatar participated in the Shell Eco Marathon competition and they are representing Qatar in this competition. The competition took place in Singapore on 16-18 March 2017. The Shell Eco Marathon (SEM) is a unique competition as it challenges students around the world to design, build, and drive the most energy-efficient car. Successfully their car passed the technical inspection and managed to complete the track (12.7km in length) three times. The car participated in the urban concept category utilizing Gas to Liquid (GTL) diesel in line with Qatar’s attempts to remain the GTL capital of the world.

SAE Students attend field trip to Cummins Middle East ABO

The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) Student Chapter in Texas A&M University at Qatar visited the Cummins Middle East ABO Headquarters, Maintenance, and Service Center in the industrial area on Wednesday March 29, 2017 under the supervision and guidance of Mr. Emad Lotfy, Mr. Elias Tabanji, and Mr. MithiLesh Pal. The team learned about the four systems of an engine (Oil, Air, Fuel, and Cooling) and got a first-hand look at an actual engine made by Cummins. The team had a short tour and lecture about the company and they were invited by the Cummins faculty to visit their new state of the art facilities that will be opened in the coming two years. Shell Eco Marathon Team - Mechanical Engineering Presentation at QATALUM

A group of Mechanical Engineering students and their mentors: Dr. Michael Schuller and Mr. Muhammad Bin Yousaf have visited Qatar Aluminum Limited- Qatalum on December 6, 2016. The group, in the presence of QATALUM's CEO: Mr. Khalid Mohammed Laram, gave a presentation about the last year's SEM car competition and exposed their plans for the upcoming SEM competition which will take place in Singapore in March 2017.

TMS Middle East - Mediterranean Materials Congress on Energy and Infrastructure Systems (MEMA 2015)

This materials congress will focus on new materials research and development in applications of interest for Qatar and the entire Middle East and Mediterranean region. The goal of this congress is to build synergy among researchers working on different materials applications but with similar objectives of enhancing design, sustainability, and functionality of materials. The congress will also be a forum for establishing collaboration among academia, research institutions, and industry in the Middle East and Mediterranean region and the rest of the world.

MATERIALS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING SYMPOSIUM 2014
Tuesday, 18 February 2014 • Doha, Qatar

For the 5th consecutive year, Qatar University and Texas A&M University at Qatar are jointly organizing the annual symposium on material sciences and engineering. This year’s event will be hosted on Tuesday 18th of February at the Center for Advanced Materials (CAM), Qatar University.  Every year, leading experts from academic institutions, research centers, companies, and government organizations participate in this symposium to discuss the latest advances and prevailing challenges in materials science and engineering. The theme of this year's symposium is to discuss advances in materials research that are key to address the research grand challenges in the State of Qatar as well as the needs of various Qatari industries. The symposium will feature speakers from top international academic institutions, Qatar Energy and Environment Research Institute (QEERI), Qatar University, Texas A&M University at Qatar, and several companies.  The symposium program is designed to stimulate active discussions among participants through presentations and a panel discussion. The symposium will also provide the opportunity to promote future collaboration among the participants in cross-disciplinary areas.

MIDDLE EAST CONFERENCE ON BIOMEDICAL ENGINEERING (MECBME)
February 17 – 20, 2014 • Doha, Qatar

The second Middle East Conference on Biomedical Engineering (MECBME) will provide a forum for professional engineers, scientists, clinicians and academics engaged in research and development to convene and present their latest scholarly work in biomedical engineering. It will also provide engineers with an opportunity to interact and share their experiences in industry and technology applications. The conference will run for four days and will be accompanied by an industrial exhibition. Diverse tutorial sessions by leading experts will be held on the first day of the conference. Submitted papers will be peer reviewed. Accepted papers will be indexed in IEEExplore.
