Interest Areas

Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has more than twenty years of research experience in the field of Energy and Thermal Fluid Sciences. His research interests include Heat Transfer, Multiphase Flow, District Cooling and Heating, and Film Cooling.

Honors

  • Elected ASME Fellow to the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), an honor bestowed on only 3 percent of members. The fellowship distinction is conferred by the ASME Committee of Past Presidents to recognize candidates on their outstanding engineering achievements.
  • Dr. Hassan has received two major grants (as LPI and PI), NPRP-Cycle10, 2017-2020, from the Qatar National Research Fund/National Priorities Research Program.
  • Dr. Hassan received the prestigious NSERC “National Science and Research Council of Canada” Discovery Accelerator Supplement (DAS) Award in 2010-2013.
  • He has received grants, with over $3,500,000 in external funding in Canada, through NSERC, CFI, CRIAQ, MDEIE, PWC.
  • He is a recipient of the honorary teaching excellence awards from Concordia’s Engineering and Computer Science Council.
  • He is a member of the Society of Professional Engineers of Ontario, Canadian Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
