American Society of Mechanical Engineers
ASME, a not-for-profit professional organization that enables collaboration, has been in establishment since 1880. ASME has helped the global engineering community to develop solutions to real world challenges. ASME’s mission is to serve diverse global communities by advancing, disseminating and applying engineering knowledge for improving the quality of life; and communicating the excitement of engineering (asme.org) edge sharing and skill development across all engineering disciplines, while promoting the vital role of the engineer in society. ASME codes and standards, publications, conferences, continuing education and professional development programs provide a foundation for advancing technical knowledge and a safer world. TAMUQ student chapter of ASME has been established in 2005 and has been recognized as one of the most active student organizations on campus. The TAMUQ student chapter of ASME offers variety of opportunities for academic and professional development including paper presentations, invited presentations, workshops to improve student interview skills, leadership symposia, etc.

Texas A&M University at Qatar student chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) held its second annual Student Professional Development Symposium on Saturday, April 27, 2013. Over 22 students competed for prizes in three different tracks. This included, Senior Design Track, Team Presentation Track, and Individual Presentation Track. This annual event has been created to allow Mechanical Engineering students to showcase their design projects as well as their oral communication skills. The top three recognitions were awarded to:
