Animation and Visualization of Reservoir Rock Properties with CT Tomography with Immersive Visualization Facility at Texas A&M at Qatar

PI: Frank M. Platt

The document is a proposal for use of the facility in conjunction with the CT scanner located in our Core Petrophysics lab. We are looking at ways to use both the scanner and the visualization facility to enhance our ability to teach Petroleum Engineering.

This proposal addresses two issues of importance to OLE department. One is to give our students the best technical education possible and second to move forward in our teaching methods to a level not generally seen in the undergraduate arena. This project is also supported by faculty at Petroleum Engineering Department at TAMU and would like to incorporate our results in their classes either as a demonstration or as an actual lab in the curriculum.

This proposal concerns thee specific experiments projects that are highly related and can be completed simultaneously. The output results of each experiment are visualizations of the process being tested. Each visualization time step can be combined with results before and after to create animations of the process being tested.
